HOMEMADE ICE CREAM
First, you will need to freeze overnight a large, 2 pound, 7 oz coffee can with a plastic lid and a small, 1 pound coffee can with a plastic lid.
The next day, mix 1 cup of milk, 1 cup of whipping cream, a 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla and 1/2 cup of sugar together in the small coffee can. You add peppermint or raspberry flavoring here instead of vanilla if you like. Put the lid on and place can inside the large can. Pack some ice into the larger can around the smaller can and sprinkle the ice with salt so that it makes the coffee can ice cream very cold! Put the lid on the larger coffee can and start rolling it.

It takes a while so you have to be patient. Your kids would probably enjoy taking turns rolling the can, so let them do this while you relax!! Replace the ice when it starts to melt and you should open up the can and scrape the mixture from the sides every so often. Keep rolling until it's nice and thick. Scoop it out and add your favorite toppings.
