Cream 1 cup of butter and 1 cup of brown sugar (packed) together until light and fluffy. Mix in 1 egg yolk. Add 2 cups of All Purpose sifted flour gradually, stirring only to blend. Add 1 teaspoon of vanilla.
Spread this mixture about 1/4 inch thick in a lightly buttered, 10 x 15 inch jelly roll pan. Bake at 350 degrees, 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown.
Remove this from oven and while still hot, place 6 oz of milk chocolate on top until it gets soft. When soft, spread this chocolate all over the top of toffee, then sprinkle with 1 cup of chopped nuts. While still warm, cut into bars. This recipe makes about 5 dozen toffee bars. Absolutely scrumptious!!
